Advanced Wireless Networks Driving Demand for 3D Data

ComputaMaps has been producing geodata for telecoms operators and their related suppliers for over ten years. Over that time, we’ve witnessed and supported 2G and 3G+ network deployments around the world. For our customers, using simulation tools in conjunction with accurate geodata has allowed them to plan, build and optimize their networks. Historically, our customers have used 2D medium resolution data (20-50m) to plan 2G and 3G networks. Some acquired higher resolution data for urban areas in support of ray tracing models and transmission planning. However, in the past year we’ve witnessed a dramatic increase in the acquisition of our 3D City Planner products as operators have deployed HSPA and WiMAX networks. For a number of reasons, we anticipate that demand for 3D data will dramatically grow in the coming years with 3G+ and 4G networks providing the justification for operators to buy higher resolution data.

ComputaMaps Models FIFA World Cup Stadiums

The world’s best football players will be making their way to South Africa from June 11 – July 11, 2010 for the FIFA World Cup™. Ten World Cup venues in nine host cities across South Africa will have the eyes of the world upon them as 32 teams compete for the sport’s greatest championship. We have generated high-resolution versions of the stadiums and are in negotiations with national broadcasters around the world interested in using our 3D fly-throughs in their telecasts. If you’re a football fan, architecture fan or just want to see the detail that is possible in generating 3D models, check out the stadiums on our website. 

We are now in “wireless tradeshow season”. Tradeshows offer a great opportunity for our senior management and sales representatives to meet with multiple prospects, customers, partners and others who operate in our ecosystem.
